This is most certainly the best laptop I could find for the price. My last laptop was an alienware, so this is as thin as a sheet of paper compared to that one.
I use this laptop for typing at work, watching and burning movies on DVDs and online, I stream my television from my house using a HAVA streamer, and I game on it. I have not had any problems with anything on it yet.
To show how well it works, I have downloaded Steam (a gaming app) and have played Team Fortress 2, Boarderlans, Left 4 Dead, and Modern Warefare 1 and 2 without any problems. MW2 is obviously not set to the highest settings, but still runs well at rather high settings.
Graphically this laptop is not goinging to replace a desktop if your editing videos or using a CAD system, but for most people, this should be all you need.
The battery life is better than any other laptop I have seen. With the size, you would think that you could squeeze out three hours of life out of this one, but with moderate internet usage, including streaming a movie or two, and burning a DVD, I can get about 6 hours. Turning off most settings and just watching a DVD or typing reports on battery saver, I have had it on just battery for over 11 hours.
The screen is excellent as well. I heard complaints about viewing angle, and it is true that if you have many people looking at the monitor, it looses it’s crisp picture a foot or two to either side, but I did not buy this for that purpose. two to four people watching the screen far enough back have had no problems.

Cons:
The absolute WORST thing I can find about this laptop is that the front edge is oddly sharp. It can get a little uncomfortable if you lean your palms on it for the mouse buttons for a prolonged time, but I use an external mouse, so I do not have that problem.

I would say that if you are considering this computer, then get it. Windows 7 only makes it better, it may take a day to get use to it if you are moving from XP, but watch the tip videos online and learn the new features and you’ll appreciate the upgrade.

Im easy to impress. Ive been using a laptop I bought in 2004 and was still relatively happy with it even when I bought this. That said, I still recognize the value of this computer. First, it performs great. This isnt a review of Windows 7 but the OS is a great improvement over Vista. No need to do a clean install of XP (though I tried installing Android just for phone and couldnt get past the splash screen. Maybe Ill update this once Ive tried installing Ubuntu). The screen is nice and bright (though Id have loved a matted screen – just doesnt seem like its offered by any manufacturer anymore), the laptop is reasonably light, the wide screen is great. Most of this I expected. But the things I am pleasantly suprised about – the keyboard is phenomenal. While the number pad, arrow keys, and hone/delete/end/page up and down buttons are tiny and tough to use with big fingers, the letter and number keys feel more like a full keyboard than any other laptop Ive used. And Im used to wide laptops. The keys are also remarkably soft to the touch. Also, boot up is fast and the battery life is 4+ hours. Havent been too conscious of it, but it seems to have an hour or so left when Im expecting it to die. Not too much unnecessary software that Ive seen though I havent done a full inspection. A few things that would be nice – the Office install is only a trial. Also, there is no installed security software. For the price, I dont think I could expect all of that, but those would have been nice. Also, the speakers are junk. My 6 year old laptop had decent speakers but I really expected these to be an improvement. They dont create much sound so skype conversations are best held in quiet rooms. But if you are on your own without much background noise and you just want some backgroudn music, they will do. The speakers on my laptop make an irritating low volume but always audible screeching sound from boot up to close down. Its quiet enough I can forget about it, but it doesnt go away. When I can live without my computer for a few weeks, I may send it in and see how well they take care of it.

ASUS Eee PC 1000HE 10.1-Inch Blue Netbook – 9.5 Hour Battery Life Review

I ordered the Asus EeePC 1000HE from amazon.com while I was flying across the USA on a flight with wifi service. I could barely type on my huge 17 inch Dell “laptop” as I placed the order. As soon as I made the purchase I looked forward to my netbook’s arrival and imagined how nice it would be not to have to carry my huge computer around with me.

I have been very happy with this netbook for the last 5 months of use. I have it configured to dual boot Windows XP and Ubuntu 9.04. I also upgraded the RAM to 2 GB with Crucial 2GB 667 Mhz CT25664AC667 DDR2 200-Pin SODIMM Laptop Memory. Installing Linux and upgrading the RAM were easy processes.

The battery life is as advertised at greater than 7.5 hours in my typical use.

The chicklet style keyboard is relatively easy for me to type on with my larger than average hands.

The screen is small but usable.

The multi-touch touch pad works fairly well. I have some issues resizing fonts with the Ctrl+scroll function.

I have recommended this netbook to my friends and family. My sister-in-law bought one and is very happy with it as well.
